As I explored the streets of the city, I walked around with just the companionship of my camera. My goal since arriving was to capture the individuality of people I came across. Photography is the way that I process the world around me, yet I was struggling to reach my goal. That was until I felt magic in an alleyway, where the walls were lined with shadows, signs, and festival decorations. There was light shining in from cracks between the buildings, and it fell upon the people commuting around the city. Light can be a symbol for many things, and in that moment, I felt that it illuminated the person’s souls, minds, and lives. This shot grounded me for many reasons; but nothing compared to the reality that these people in the light have their own dreams and experiences.

Creativity is my form of self expression. As I’ve grown as a person, I have found so many ways to reflect my mind onto my art. Because of this, any time I felt challenged or moved by something, I visualized the way that it made me feel through photography.
