This diptych is meaningful to me because it was a way for me to express my creativity through black-and-white photography. Even though the subjects are different, they pair well together because of the high contrast and the mimicking movement of the curves in each image. The swooping of the rope of the light echoes the natural curves in the bark of the tree. They mimic each other visually. Both of the images were taken during midday, so the light was bright, which is why I was able to create a high contrast image. The pairing of these images felt natural because of the light and shadows, since they all speak to each other. This shows that beauty is everywhere, whether man-made or natural.

To me creativity is an outlet for my imagination, it is a way for me to express my thoughts in a way that isn’t writing. Creativity is a way for me to go beyond the norms, especially for photography. It is a way for me to express who I am.
