ten lessons from wyoming

Hunter S.

  • "ten lessons from wyoming" was my way of combining my relationship with my dad, my relationship with myself, and my relationship with my environment into one piece. One thing I've learned throughout my journey of self-discovery is that all parts of your life are so interwoven. Sometimes it feels silly to just say that I'm transgender, or that I'm on good terms with my dad, or that he's from Wyoming. It's so much more nuanced and complex than that, and it's so much more complex than these 500 words. I hope you love this poem as much as I do; I really poured my heart into this one.

  • Creativity is everything around us. As said in Dead Poets Society; "Medicine, law, business, engineering—these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love—these are what we stay alive for." And that could not be phrased better. In a world of STEM, stay authentic and creative.
