The Iliad Scene 7

Catherine M.

  • I did this as a project for school. I love LEGOs and was excited to dabble in the medium of LEGO stop-motion. I find it fun to incorporate small details and to figure out how to make the LEGO characters animate the scene. I also really enjoy mythology, especially Greek mythology, so the Iliad sounded very interesting. To make the scene, I first got a script of one scene from the Iliad by Homer adapted by Gwen Bowers. I then recorded some friends and family members as the voices for the characters and arranged the clips in Imovie. I then created the characters and the sets for each scene out of LEGOs. Next, I set up the background, set, and the characters and filmed them through iStopmotion. Finally, I edited the stop-motion clips to fit the audio to make the finished scene.

  • Creativity to me means being able to use a medium and create something new with emotion. Usually this involves some story, emotion, or idea. For LEGO stop-motion it means finding clever ways to move the minifigures or combine non-LEGO items (like clay or other figurines) to make the film better.
