The Lamp On Cypress Street

"The Lamp On Cypress Street" is an embellishing piece about the stillness and acceptance between life and death. Following an aging woman who finds comfort in the quiet moments of the night, a single, broken streetlamp on an otherwise dark street disturbs her peace. What starts as bothersome morphs into a meditation on life, change, and eventual surrender. Through captivating imagery, the story highlights how one cannot always face the hardships of their journey coming to an end. When acceptance is welcomed, transcendence and serenity can blossom. Writing this piece, I had one goal in mind: to capture loneliness, aging, and the eventual surrender to the next stage of life. Ultimately, the story ends in stillness, crossing the border of light and darkness, and finding peace in transformation.
