The Light of the World

  • “The Light of the World” is my attempt to capture the unmatched beauty and elegance of the Basílica de la Sagrada Familia, especially the figure of Jesus hanging above the altar. This image not only portrays the crucifixion, but also the paradox of enduring hope and light in the face of sorrow. As I walked through the cathedral, I could feel the presence of this sculpture, following me and demanding my attention. Reflecting on the photo later, I was reminded of John 8:12 — “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” And so, the title was born from this verse, perfectly encapsulating what the statue conveys: that light will always overcome darkness.

  • To me, creativity means capturing a photograph so the world can see what I envisioned in my mind. It's not about creating something pleasing to look at, but creating something true to what I feel and what I see.
