Chalk Pastel and Pastel Pencils

  • This work is a pastel drawing of a London Underground. As a stranger in London, being in a London Underground was both a fascinating and intimidating experience. While seeing the structure of the underground along with how people act and move were very interesting, being in a new environment where I do not have much information about was a little nervous. Another remarkable point was that although the London Underground was generally loud, with the noises of the people talking and trains traveling, in that loudness I was surprisingly able to find a sense of peace. Perhaps it was the excitement that the city brought to me which let me to peace even in a loud setting. In my piece, I wanted to depict the structures of the Underground with my style and have a time to think back to my experience in London as well.

  • To me, creativity means to explore through your imagination. I wanted to keep my definition simple because while coming up with new thoughts is important, I feel like sometimes the pressure from it could block one's creativity instead. I think it is important to be happy about the creation.
