To explore how grief is expressed across cultures and societies, I chose to represent a faction through Virgin Mary. With going outside of my comfort zone and creating a surreal image. The colorful marbling of her skin was done with colored pencil to produce a seamless and smooth texture. The white paint added with a sponge to produce a stamp effect contrasts with her hyperrealist features allows for abstract carvings. Her veil and crown are done with rich colors in colored pencil to showcase her regality.

Creativity is a language that allows for expression where words fall short. It’s how one’s mind perceives the world, and allows for the world to see how the mind operates. Creativity is seen in unconventional ways and is gifted to people from all backgrounds. It’s a universal form of connection.
