The Race Against Slavery

In 2022, I worked as a Committee Member for the San Francisco Chapter of the 24 Hours Race Organization, a charity organization from Hong Kong that emphasizes student activism to fight and raise money against slavery and human trafficking. I wanted to help spread the word of the organization, but also demonstrate the power of the youth (which is so often unacknowledged) and publicize the hard work it takes in order to host a race like this. I spent a total of 13 months of interviewing, filming the 24 Hours Race, and then editing in order to attempt to capture the overall spirit of the race and give a basic introduction to its mission and what occurs in the race. This is a passion project of mine, where I wanted to explore new shots, interviews, and of course styles of editing that can hopefully bring more attention to this movement and inspire more youth involvement in the world around us.

Creativity is the ability to express an idea in a manner that brings about conversation and inspires action. A filmmaker can take a book, a concept, or even another film, but they must use their background, supplies, and a vision to teach or entertain an audience; that ability is creativity.
