• Artist Statement

  “A Convoy of Quails” is a love letter to my mother. Made for her birthday the subject matter relates to different parts of her life together. Her favorite bird, the quail, and her and her children. The process was a bit different from what I’m used to doing. I started by using a wood canvas and spray painted a black base instead of my usual white base. For the colors and techniques, I took a lot of inspiration from abstract art I had previously been making using vibrant colors and layering them.

  Creativity to me means the ability to get messy. To dig your hands in something new and find something new about yourself, the world, or both.
