This piece conveys the inevitable, yet beautiful passage of time from childhood to adulthood, innocence to maturity. I represent this transformation with wings, transporting me from a spirit to a body, and the carousel’s flying horses directing me from child to adult. I use oil paint to portray the fantastical sentiments of childhood and digital art to add the clarity of maturity through hidden texts. On the right side of the design, I incorporate more red and gold from the carousel in my clothing, symbolizing my assimilation into the world around me. Leaving the carousel’s cycle and the fleeting years of youth, I venture into the future, ready to navigate on my own. Through this design, I hope to show teenagers that childhood passes quickly, and we must take advantage of what we’ve learned to become independent adults, ready to explore the world on our own.

My creativity is rooted in blending old traditions with contemporary practices. Through merging my past traditional art experience like oil painting and watercolor with new digital art media technologies, my use of creative exploration within multi-media allows me to develop artworks that tell meaningful stories and resonate with diverse audiences.
