• Artist Statement

  I often feel nostalgic about my memories of elementary school, our bright green turtle mascot, and pretending to be a fairy on the playground. I made an illustration about the bittersweet feeling of leaving elementary school and leaving behind the childhood whimsy that once kept me going. I used color pencils as a base, and crayons to illustrate the child once was and pastels to show the blurry and uncertain future.

• Creative Statement

  It is how I express myself and problem solve. It allows me to bring my own feelings and experiences words can’t describe into this reality. The way my brain thinks to bring life wild ideas helps me make the world a better place in my own special little way.
