A Game of Control

Ava H.

Acrylic paint

  • In “A Game of Control,” I depict three levels of control: the hands controlling the foosball figurine heads, the figurine heads controlling the ball, and the ball that has legs, enabling it to walk and control itself. The ball’s self-determination reveals the many layers of power shaped by higher layers of power within today’s world, along with the isolation that accompanies the pursuit of breaking free from the status quo.

  • Creativity means self-expression. Whether that be through painting, the clothes you wear, or your interests, creativity allows you to be fully yourself.
