For this piece, I was inspired by a recent passion project of mine. I took up origami for the first time, and made the miniature cranes into jewelry. For this artwork, I wanted to channel the happy and whimsical vibes I hope people feel when seeing my work. On a more personal level, this project was a way for me to connect with the Japanese side of my culture that I once felt detached from. Paper cranes symbolize hope and good fortune, and hold so much more historical importance. Learning about their meaning was inspiring and eye-opening, and I would love to be able to share this message with an even greater audience through my art.

To me, creativity is a way to express thoughts and ideas that I would usually have trouble putting into words. There's something both beautiful and powerful about being able to use illustration to convey messages that can't be explicitly said out loud.
