A Shadow of Doubt

Jack F.

  • A Shadow of Doubt is more than just a short film, it is an experience me and my friends will never forget. What originally started as an assignment for our cinema arts class, quickly expanded into a passion project fueled by me and my group's mutual love for storytelling, mystery, and film noir. I’m very passionate about the medium of film and this project provided me the opportunity to express my interest through a genre I adore. It also acted as a tough but engaging challenge, creating a story only from still-images. Part of the reason we chose film noir was because of this limitation, as it replicated that feeling of gathering pieces of evidence. Our main inspiration was the French expresionist film La Jatte, which demonstrated how powerful the imagination can be. We wanted others to see this film, because storytelling at it’s core is a form of expression.

  • To me, creativity is a power we all possess. The ability to objects, people, an all new reality with the only limitation being our imagination. It is an opportunity for me to break free of my limitations in the real world, and express myself in an engaging way.
