• Artist Statement

  This artwork was taken after I lunch I had with family. It was the first time that everyone had gotten together in a few months, at this time, everyone was very busy with work or school, and I hadn’t seen some of my uncles and aunts for a while. We were walking around a lake near the restaurant, my uncle and father were happy conversing nearby and I glimpsed over and saw my grandfather separated from the group, lost in his newspaper. I felt like the moment slow to stop, and I saw the perfect image laid out in front of me. I pulled my camera up and took the shot, later, editing it in my photography class, I felt black and white captured the simplicity, but beauty of the moment.

  Creativity is a way I am able to feel connected to not only my peers, but the world around me, through not the photographs themselves, but the time I spend with others in the process.
