Scaredy Cowboy

  • One dry desert day, Ayden and his horse (Prince Chocolate Delight, a totally normal name for one’s horse) are headed towards a small town to participate in a rodeo, but not before he crosses paths with Rachel, a intimidating and mischievous cowgirl with playful and silly spirit. Ayden is usually one of the more quiet and tense cowboys… how will an interaction like this turn out to be?? When working on this piece, I tried to think of funny reactions and faces of the two characters, because it will show how they usually act and make them more personable (for example, the last panel where Ayden is panicking or the one where he is trembling). I also went for a more “muted” color scheme, because whenever I think of cowboys, horses, deserts, faded colors come to mind.

  • Creativity is a way that you can express something, but you don’t need words to show it. Not all comics have words. Sometimes, it just takes a couple of frames with certain facial expressions and movements, and other areas of art have certain details that can bring a piece together.
