• Artist Statement

  The house sparrow is a common bird living in urban areas. I remember seeing them around even as a kid in my backyard. This piece attempts to capture house sparrows’ song and personality. Their bright chirping song is portrayed through the loose strokes and bold color, showing the liveliness they add to an otherwise dull and gray city environment.

• Creative Statement

  To me, creativity means taking a spark of an idea -- an emotion, a gut feeling, a wondering of "what if" -- and turning it from something intangible that lasts only an instant, into something lasting that lets others, or even just yourself, see that spark again.
