Becoming

This video poem captures my daily practice of finding beauty and connection in the San Francisco Bay Area. Shot entirely on my iPhone, I filmed moments of morning light, city streets, ocean air, and small details—footsteps on concrete, flowers blooming, words blending into the city's rhythm. My artistic process is deeply personal and observational. I walk through San Francisco with attention, letting the environment guide what I notice and film. The poem emerged from these walks, exploring themes of interconnection, gratitude, and constant becoming. By pairing my spoken words with visual footage, I wanted to create something that feels like moving meditation—an invitation to see how we're made of the world around us. As both poet and visual artist, I'm drawn to work that bridges internal experience with external landscape. Becoming asks: What does it mean to be "found" by what we love, and how does noticing beauty transform us?

Creativity means transforming ideas into action that builds community. It's how I organized art auctions raising $28,000+ for the Transgender Law Center, designed research systems at the Buck Institute, and built peer support programs. Creativity is my tool for solving problems, connecting people, and turning care into tangible change.
