Blemished Apple

My artwork, "Blemished Apple", consists of clay and underglaze. This trinket dish was my first throw on the pottery wheel, an example of a beautifully imperfect piece depending on one's view on it. Despite the imperfect aspect of my work, it is covered with an apple that represents beauty and health which contradicts the flaws and blemishes on the actual plate. Therefore the name "Blemished Apple" came about, blemished which means that there are flaws and marks that ruin the appearance and apple representing beauty. Combined they show the story of my first throw on the wheel that had many imperfections as well as many "perfect" aspects to it.

Creativity to me is when you find art, inspiration, and beauty in any small, medium, or big thing. No matter where you are and your situations you open your mind and are able to invent and express yourself, that is what creativity means to me.
