Blue Pine

Gwenyth E.

Digital painting and traditional ink to plan the piece

  • I wanted to express the feeling of being part of something bigger, and how big the natural world is. I started with thumbnails in ink, basing the piece on my time in the Sierras. After finding a composition that felt right in my sketchbook, I moved on to color. Capturing how blue the sky gets was important, so I tried several color studies to concentrate what my palette.

  • To me, creativity means being able to express my feelings and ideas and to make something impactful. Using my feelings to create a visually interesting piece of art that tells a story is fascinating, and it draws me back to creating over and over.
