Digital painting and traditional ink to plan the piece

I wanted to express the feeling of being part of something bigger, and how big the natural world is. I started with thumbnails in ink, basing the piece on my time in the Sierras. After finding a composition that felt right in my sketchbook, I moved on to color. Capturing how blue the sky gets was important, so I tried several color studies to concentrate what my palette.

To me, creativity means being able to express my feelings and ideas and to make something impactful. Using my feelings to create a visually interesting piece of art that tells a story is fascinating, and it draws me back to creating over and over.
