Canzonetta from Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto D Major

The piece I will be performing is the Canzonetta, the second movement of Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto. Following the long and majestic first movement, Tchaikovsky intended the Canzonetta to offer a moment of lyrical calm, a “little song” expressing warmth, nostalgia, and quiet vulnerability. Unlike the fiery virtuosity of the other movements, it reveals a more intimate, human voice. Its gentle phrasing and subtle emotional shifts create a reflective and deeply personal space. In preparing this piece, I focus on shaping each phrase with sincerity and a natural, vocal quality. I listen to the breath within the music and refine my tone so the melody flows easily. I also bring creativity by exploring different colors and pacing, allowing the music to feel spontaneous and alive. Working on this movement feels like entering a peaceful inner world, and I pour my passion into each note to share its tenderness and simplicity.

Creativity is breathing life into written notes. In classical music, I study every detail to respect the composer’s vision, yet I shape the phrasing, tone, and pacing to tell the story as I feel it. Each performance becomes a personal, emotional journey shared with the listener.
