Chopin Etude Op. 10 No. 4

Natalie B.

  • My work is my performance of Chopin’s Étude Op. 10 No. 4, a piece that demands technical precision as well as emotional intensity. What draws me to this étude is its bursting energy. While preparing the piece, I focused on shaping the busy lines into something expressive rather than purely mechanical. I spent hours isolating difficult patterns, gradually increasing speed, and experimenting with tone, touch, and phrasing until the music felt right. For me, this étude represents the challenge of staying centered in the middle of motion. Even at its fastest moments, there is a thread of lyricism that I don’t want to lose.

  • Creativity means exploring ideas with curiosity and turning my thoughts and feelings into something others can experience. It’s the freedom to experiment and make mistakes, to discover new found meaning through the process.
