My 2d hand drawn animated film “Cindy Undead” follows a mysterious supermodel, Cindy Devereux, who constantly falls apart and sews herself back together until the breaking point. It is my love letter to the 80s and I had so much fun designing the characters and textures used. There are many details to catch in the backgrounds and tabloids etc. In this film I explore my thoughts on celebrity culture, treatment of women, and sensationalism. I have been noticing that people will only tune in for a woman on a pedestal or the spectacle of her hitting rock bottom, and wanted to depict that. This film is also my most advanced technique-wise so far, and I am extremely proud of all that I was able to craft from scratch. Everything in this film including score is made completely by me except the initial sample of Divine from John Waters’ “Female Trouble”.

My creativity fuses my passions for animation, illustration, fashion and music into something completely mine, uninfluenced by external pressures. I find peace in the individuality that art allows me to have. I can also share my ideas and connect with others through my art, which is also very important.
