Eliana Y.

  • I wrote this in a feverish rage. I am biologically female, and the idea that our body is being policed truly made me sick. After reading many personal accounts of people who had no choice but to have a child, who could have died because they could not receive a medical procedure, I felt genuine fear. My anxieties stem from the fact that many girls are sexually assaulted, abused, or worse. These people need medical care the most—the medical care being abortion. What sickenes me more is that people seem to blame the victims. This work has a religious undertone, I understand. Living in the Bay Area is a luxury, as people here are more accepting. Unfortunately for many people in America, religion polices their entire lives. So please, have more empathy for the girls who are going through terrible things.

  • Creativity is a breath of fresh air. My thoughts are allowed to spill across paper, and somehow, it means something, even if it’s only to me.
