I used regular and colored pencils to sketch on paper, then transferred it on shrink plastic to bake in the oven.

I drew my two original characters inspired by a taro milk tea and a pumpkin spice latte on shrink plastic. It’s a medium I'm still adjusting to, as you have to sketch and color on a large surface and prepare for it to shrink around a quarter of its size when you bake it. I mainly used colored pencils, and after they hardened I placed them on my history notes because I initially conjured them up by doodling in class and craving a sweet treat. With their forms being on pins, it creates a 3D effect like they're popping up from the paper. I punched holes on top of the pins to turn them into keychains, so they can live life on my bag and see the world beyond my notebook margins.

As someone who plans to pursue a STEM field and enjoys the academic rigor, creative outlets are my way balancing my activities and areas of my mind. I find creativity in making music, performing, dancing, and drawing, and they remind myself that life is an experience I should enjoy.
