This is an 18 x 24 oil painting piece I completed at the end of last year. I decided to try and capture the complex feelings I have about myself as I grow up and start thinking about how I want to present myself to colleges or jobs. Writing college applications especially feels like boiling down every part of me into one neat, polished version. Internally, I feel like multiple versions of myself are vying for the spotlight, crammed together in intense competition for who will be put on a pedestal as the “perfect version” of myself, the only version that will let me achieve the future I strive for.

To me, creativity has always been about sharing one's inner world. It’s incredible to be able to represent yourself in such a way that other people can know exactly how you felt while creating it. Creativity is the way that all those thoughts and feelings are expressed.
