As the first-chair alto saxophonist in El Camino’s jazz band, my solo in Jazz Police, by Gordon Goodwin, reflects both of my determination and my love of musical expression. Developing this solo was a challenge as I spent weeks testing phrasing, tone, and style, often feeling unsure my ideas were strong enough. But I stay committed to the process, practicing, listening critically, and pushing myself to refine every detail. Once I was on stage, everything clicked like a puzzle into a confident performance that captures my ideas of jazz. When watching the video, I’m the last soloist at 2:46.

Creativity is a mashup of originality, existing ideas, and unique expressions. Many people can be creative and get similar pieces but each one has different aspect that make it unique. Being able to freely express and share your ideas in any media is creativity to me.
