This piece is a letter written from a girl to her mother explaining why she ran away from home. It tells the story of how the mother’s boyfriend was abusive to the daughter, and how she tried her hardest to survive in the house but couldn’t stay. She chose to save herself in her decision to run away, and that was the best thing she could have ever done. This girl learned one of life’s hardest lessons that everyone needs to learn; there is a time when you need to stop trying to shrink yourself for other people and choose what is best for you, because no one else is going to. The girl in the piece has saved herself by running away, and she will live happily ever after because of it. I would be forever grateful to have her kind of courage.
