• Artist Statement

  I made this piece as a part of my studio art class. I first defined the birds then created a loose background. Finally, I brought them together by smudging or erasing the charcoal to make the birds feel more connected the background. Though each bird is predominantly white or black, the smudging and highlighting of opposite shades is meant to make viewers question the reality of extremes.

• Creative Statement

  To me, creativity is a way to process my life and have fun. It can be a great outlet for my stress and anxiety, or simply a way to express my passion for storytelling.
