"Dreamer" is the prelude to my favorite album, exploring the complexities of love. The song follows a hopeless romantic who has been disappointed repeatedly, resorting to happiness through daydreaming. Despite being failed by love, the narrator continues to dream on–something I connect with deeply. At a time when days felt too short and my motivation wavered, I came across "Dreamer." Through its alluring harmonies and heartfelt message, I held onto it as hope to move forward in difficult times. Laufey, a Chinese-Icelandic artist, single-handedly revived jazz, an almost foreign genre for my generation. She made it accessible by blending it into jazz-pop, bringing it to life and making history. As someone of Asian heritage, her success inspires me to do what I love: share my music to make a positive impact on those around me. "Dreamer" reminds me that dreaming is not naive, but a power that brings endless possibilities.
