Everything Is Fine

  • While interning at the Alameda Labor Council, I had the opportunity to photograph people at the Labor Day No Kings rally. During this rally, my goal was to take photos that exposed the problems of the U.S. I met a person holding up a sign saying everything was fine, even though his hands were bleeding. After I took the photo, I asked him why he was holding that up, his answer was,” The world acts like everything is fine, but in reality, we're bleeding.” Exposing the harsh reality of our world, people dying in Palestine, Ice raiding innocent people, and the power-grabbing done by the president. It was important to capture this moment. Using flash, I made sure I exaggerated the look of the photo, showed the emotions, and the bleeding, making sure it's the first thing a person sees.

  • Using your imagination to create art. Being creative can be anything simple as drawing a stick figure war, or drawing a cat using your imagination. Going outside your comfort zone can be creative, or just trying different things, no matter how it looks.
