I put a lot of myself into this piece and tried things I never have before. I had a long and grand intro, a lot of live instruments, used reverse reverb, and I even hummed a solo at the end. That's part of the reason why it's called "First Contact", because many of my favorite parts are the ones where I tried new things and took risks. It also got its name from my intention to give it a very mystical and washy sound, kind of like something you would hear in a video game where you get to go to space and explore the edges of the universe, meeting new lifeforms; hence "First Contact." This track was largely inspired by the following songs; "Kid A" by Radiohead, "Pink and White" by Frank Ocean, and "Runaway" by Kanye West and Pusha T.

To me, creativity means opening up your mind to new things and letting go of your worries and the constraints you put on yourself. Creativity is when you let yourself learn from your mistakes and let those mistakes become your art.
