I had always hoped to see a barn owl, they've always been beautiful to me. The day I took this I was walking through a forest in Half Moon Bay, when I stopped at a tree, there were feathers at it's base. I looked up and saw the owl staring right at me, bright amongst the dark branches. It stayed for awhile as I took it's photo, barn owls are so photogenic. Eventually it flew away, not making a single sound as it did so.
