"In Preparation" portrays how habitual rituals women perform in the mirror spiral into controlling standards to live up to in order to be seen as “enough” within a culture that relentlessly defines and polices beauty. I was inspired by this friction between authenticity and performance. Beauty routines can feel empowering as an act of self-expression, but is also undeniably a negotiation with societal expectations, often demanding transformation to earn acceptance. The artwork captures the emotional weight of these preparations, how they shape identity, self-worth, and the ways it consumes women. By bringing these intimate moments into view, I hope to question who benefits from these standards, and what it might mean to step outside them.

Creativity is the act of weaving together ideas that appear unrelated through imagery. A single picture can stir emotion and communicate what language cannot, inviting viewers to sense beauty, confront tragedy, and uncover the layered truths that shape our endlessly nuanced world, encouraging deeper reflection beyond the visible surface.
