• Artist Statement

  "Inner Urge" is a jazz tune by the great tenor saxophonist Joe Henderson that he wrote to express his anger from living in New York City. This tune features a juxtaposition between the first part that is modal with the second part that has more chord changes. This tune leaves room for creativity and self expression while requiring precise and calculated technique to play.

• Creative Statement

  In the world of jazz music, creativity means taking what is available to you and making something unique to myself. Studying the masters of the music and taking inspiration from them to create my own art that represents myself is what creativity means to me.
