Julie-O

Casey K.

  • Julie-O, composed by Mark Summer, is the musical representation of the Turtle Island String Quartet, where Summer plays. Combining elements of fingerstyle guitar, percussion and jazz, Julie-O explores the far possibilities of contemporary cello. When I was preparing this piece, I worked with my teacher and Mr. Summer to develop my own interpretation of this piece, modifying techniques and improvising passages. After all, that is Julie-O's essence—improvisation.

  • Creativity means being able to express your ideas in the way that you want to express them; this also means that you are able to showcase those ideas in a medium or display that fascinates observers of your works.
