• Artist Statement

  The title of my themed project is called “Ocean Daze”. I chose to base my project around the ocean because the ocean itself and the different plants and animals that inhabit it have always piqued my interest since I was a kid. My plate represents my theme because the design was based around different aspects of the ocean. Those aspects being sea life, coral reef, and seashells. My plate is a beach scene that has a rainbow reef on it with two turtles. All the details on this plate have a special meaning to me. The turtles represent the time I saw a turtle hatching in Hawaii, the rainbow reef represents the first time I went scuba diving, and the sandy beach represents that place where I've always felt the most at peace. This project really exceeded my expectations as I turned it from drawings on a page, into reality.

• Creative Statement

  Creativity is the ability to thrive, whether it's through art, creating something new, or problem solving. Connecting something that may seem irrelevant to something you love, your thoughts run free and you end up with an unforeseen outcome. To be creative is to let your mind run free.
