• Artist Statement

  Limbo reflects a suspension in space where sorrow and joy collide and the feeling of being torn between emotions. I aimed to demonstrate the struggle of trying to improve and the hopelessness of succumbing to woe through a demonstration of drowning in failure: the broken trophies, deteriorating grades, red cuffs around the figure in the center, the banner saying “I’m finally falling.” all act as a confinement and representation of falling into sorrow; yet despite the negativity, the figure attempts to reach towards the light of hope and joy near the surface, knowing they’ll only fall deeper into the depths. My piece is an outcry to the awareness of mental health, representing the overshadowed internal battles and pain behind the scenes.

• Creative Statement

  Creativity, the outlet beyond the confinements of reality. I create to live, express, feel, believe in the infinite possibilities of art. Creativity is my emotion, to display raw and unfiltered- my soul, to hold gently with tenderness- and my mind, for without it- I would simply be like everyone else.
