Lost City

Veer M.

  • These are three poems of a set of many more that I wrote for a dear friend over the course of the last year. The first poem you read was the last chronologically, and, being a conclusion to the friendship, was written in one sitting to express most of my final thoughts and feelings. The others were made over months, built line-by-line, with each couplet being a snapshot in time. I carried all these words in my mind until I finally sat down to write all that I could remember; while I made minor edits for clarity, the lines are largely preserved and each holds a precious memory for me. I hope these poems offer you a sense of the meaning their writing held for me.

  • To me, creativity is the ability to express yourself as authentically and truly as you can. Poetry, specifically, is something very personal: I've read many poems in a variety of languages, and every poet writes differently to express different feelings in different ways, which is what I try to do.
