Lost Time

Angela K.

  • Touching on topics of grief, reflection, and nostalgia, this piece follows the journey of a granddaughter mourning the loss of her grandmother (halmoni), and the tender memories tied to her home. Through the description and sensory details of a traditional Korean hanok and the warm moments shared with the narrator's grandmother, this piece explores the slow passage of time. Additionally, themes of innocence slipping away in childhood as a result of significant life events, and the connection between guilt and regret are explored. This tragic, yet incredibly beautiful and nostalgic story serves as a reflection on loss, love, and the painful reality of human existence.

  • I believe that true creativity stems from real and raw experiences. "Lost Time" is a story that I cherish, not only because I'm greatly satisfied with my artistic expression regarding ideas of love and loss in this piece, but because I drew from personal experiences and memories to write.
