Midas Touch

  • This piece explores the how one cannot buy happiness. While many argue that you will lead a better and therefore happier life if you have money, I think that even a comfortable or luxurious life simply can’t fix every problem. If we try to fill an empty space inside ourselves with the wrong thing, it only gets bigger. I wanted to explore the idea that in the end, diamonds and gold will only weigh you down. This piece draws inspiration from the legend of king Midas, a king who had the power to turn everything he touched to gold. He eventually learns that this power is a curse, and that true happiness does not come from possessions.

  • To me, creativity means a persons ability to come up with and have the capability to make artistic ideas. It’s a way to freely express yourself in a way others understand, even if they might not have the same abilities as the creator.
