Moonlit Night

Yiran S.

Oil pastel

  • Two cats under the moonlight. Everything tinted blue to create a feeling of distance and coldness. No matter how close things can seem far and unreachable, even one’s own self, stirring up a sense of longing as seen in the cat. I tried to experiment with including one color in all aspects of this piece, and chose blue to express the feeling of loneliness despite having others around, as blue reminds me of the sky and sea, an unreachable horizon.

  • To me creativity is the ability to express my imagination and feelings. To me it means I have an outlet to let go of my ideas that would otherwise be bottled up.
