Clockwork Prison

Nikko S.

Kiln-fired ceramic clay with glaze finish

  • I created this piece during a difficult time in my life after experiencing two family losses. The box represents the emotions I kept to myself and the pressure of holding everything inside. The gears and enclosed form symbolize time moving forward while I felt stuck, like I was carrying a limit I was always close to reaching. This work reflects the feeling of being ready to break while trying to stay contained.

  • Creativity, to me, is expressing current emotions and struggles through art or physical forms. It allows me to release what I can’t always say with words and turn those feelings into something visible and real. Through creating, I find relief, understanding, and a sense of control.
