Nature's Vengeance

While we often see nature through a lens of passivity and calmness, we often forget about her raw vengeance that she may choose to unleash at any moment. Natural disasters may, on occasion, remind us of this tremendous potential of havoc being wreaked, yet these we quickly and lamentably forget. And as soon as we forget, we continue to lead our normal human lives -- consumed by the exploitation of the world around us in order to fulfill our selfish, unsustainable desires. The ominous picture here of a vindictive, “hungry” rock formation, taken in the Santa Cruz Mountains, reflects the ever-present power that nature possesses to destroy -- which our tendencies to exploit often perpetuate even further (e.g. like how our greenhouse gas emissions cause global warming and climate change), creating a downward spiral which we can never escape from.

Creativity to me means the printing of your soul, i.e. your thoughts, feelings, and unique experience, onto a medium that others can use and understand (like writing, film, or painting).
