Pothole on Third Street

My creative process is fueled by my love for bright adjectives, vivid verbs, and descriptive phrases that make me feel as though I'm immersed into the very scene I'm pouring out onto the page. Writing has been a passion of mine throughout my life, and always begins with an emotion. From there, emotions fuel diction, and diction fuels the direction that my plot will take. I love to allow the story to breathe and stretch across the page without controlling where it will go beforehand. My favorite creative projects are those that allow me to peel back layers of the world around me to better understand social norms. In Pothole on Third Street, I initiated my artistic process by pondering how the turmoil of a dystopian universe would affect a teen girl whose silent rebellion estranges her from her peers. I then constructed my character descriptions, setting, and plot devices.

Creativity is my entire world. Every day, I find myself dreaming up possibilities for new characters, inventions, and melodies. Imagining fresh perspectives makes everyday life more exciting, yet also allows me to appreciate the eccentricities of day-to-day life. Art enables me to analyze patterns in society and create positive change.
