Regal Rook

Christopher Q.

Making this required clay, carving tools, slip to attach the limbs, a kiln to bake the clay, and gold-colored glaze.

  • This was created as part of a "decoration project", dubbed that as it would be placed somewhere in the school. I initially designed it to be the mascot of the school, Ron Royal. However, plans fell through when I got concerned that the facial hair would break off in the kiln. So, I decided to make a new character that would be inspired by the mascot: Regal Rook. Whereas Ron Royal represents the school, Regal Rook is a representation of the students who work hard to graduate. The pose and gold were inspired by the Oscars trophy, whereas the statue now represents a weekly event in the school called "Royal of the Week".

  • To me, creativity is best described as a blank piece of paper. You can scribble, make a doodle, or a sketch. It can be original, or something already existent. No matter what it is, it'll still be creative. Because creativity is anything you made on that piece of paper.
