I took this photograph to represent what it feels like to hide your true self or be silenced by others. The hand casting a shadow over her face represents the pressure to stay quiet, or to cover the parts of who you really are and fit into other's expectations. This photo is about the way you see yourself and who you want to be in comparison to how the world sees you and how they try to mold you.

Creativity to me means stepping outside of your usual box and allowing yourself to explore new possibilities. Sometimes, that includes feeling uncomfortable or taking risks, but that leads you to discover things that you never would have if you had stayed doing what was safe.
