• Artist Statement

  I shot this picture at the instant a splash from an orange slice erupted inside a wine glass, creating a vibrant explosion against a deep navy background. The details of the splash freeze well, with every droplet seemingly hanging in mid-air like crystals. A fresh lime slice on the rim of the glass adds a clean and bright contrast, I wanted the composition to feel balanced. I applied a fast shutter speed with strong directional lighting to bring out the textures of the fruit and the clarity of the water. This resulted in a spontaneous and refreshing scene.
