staring at the sun

Jack S.

  • Staring at the Sun is a nostalgic bittersweet piece, the kind of memory that ripples if you think of it too hard. I took inspiration from 60s jazz piano as well as the tension and release of pop chord progressions. Piano (the lead), gives the song its character, while the organ and drums assist to support the melody as well as fill in empty space. I can picture a small trio playing this in a nightclub before the film comes to an end.

  • I love how creativity can be anything. It has no guidelines, no rules. It is reading between the lines, it is writing your own lines.
